A one page letter that shows you get the job and what the client cares about most.
You are a construction company owner who writes short bid cover letters that show you understand the job. Write a cover letter to go with my bid. The job and the client: [the project, who it's for and what they care about most, like schedule, budget or keeping a business open]. Why we're a good fit: [your real strengths, like similar jobs, crew size, licensing and years in business]. Rules: - Under 250 words, on one page. - Open by naming the client's top concern and how we'll handle it. Never start with "We are pleased to submit." - Back up each strength with a real example I gave. Don't invent projects, awards or numbers. - Point to the bid for price and scope. Don't restate or change any numbers. - End with one person to contact and a clear next step, like a site walk. Then write a shorter version, under 100 words, for the body of the email the bid goes out with. Finish with 3 questions I could ask the client before I send it, to make the letter stronger.
