AI prompts for medical practices

Your front desk spends hours on forms, policies and the same phone questions. AI can draft the words for all of it, from welcome letters to phone scripts, so your team has more time for patients. Keep patient details out of it: AI writes the template, and your own system fills in the rest.

What AI can take off your plate

  • Welcome new patients

Draft a welcome letter that says what to bring, when to arrive and how to reach you.

  • Explain office policies kindly

Turn your missed visit and late arrival rules into a short notice patients will actually read.

  • Train the front desk

Build phone scripts so every new hire handles common calls the same calm way.

  • Make handouts easier to read

Rewrite your clinician-approved instructions in plain words, with nothing added or dropped.

Questions

Can I paste patient information into an AI chat?

No. Never paste names, birth dates, chart notes, test results or anything that could identify a patient into a general AI tool. Write templates with placeholders like {first name} and fill them in inside your practice's own system. If your practice uses an AI tool approved for patient data, follow your practice's privacy rules for it.

Can AI answer medical questions from patients?

No. AI should not diagnose anyone or give medical advice to your patients. Use it for office work, like letters, policies, scripts and handouts, and have a clinician review anything with health information before it goes out.

Do handouts written with AI need to be checked?

Yes, every time. AI can sound sure and still be wrong, or quietly change a number. Have a clinician read every handout against the original before you print it.

What should we try first?

Start with your new patient welcome letter. It has no medical advice in it, you use it every day, and it's easy to check. Then move on to policy notices and phone scripts.
